Ingredients and tips for Braised Ground Beef
Choice of mixed vegetables – Any frozen vegetables work well, such as green peas and carrots.
Choice of bread – If using pocket pita bread, fill it with braised ground beef, add cheese (optiona0 and air fry vertically at 300F for 4 minutes for crispy, crunchy sides.
If wrapping in phyllo dough, crescent dough or dough in general, skip over braising the ground beef in stock to avoid a soggy wrapper.

Tip – Make the dish healthier by discarding the juices, fat and impurities that arise while cooking the beef.
Braised Ground Beef
Tender and healthy braised ground beef over the stove. Serve in a crispy pita bread or any choice of bread with preferred toppings.
Ingredients
- 1 lb. ground beef
- ½ onion diced
- oil
- ½ tsp cumin
- ½ tsp turmeric
- 1/4-1/2 tsp chili powder or to taste
- ½ cup mixed vegetables
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp pepper
- ½-1 tbsp. sugar or to taste
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½-¾ cup chicken or beef stock
- ~8-10 pita bread sliced in half (optional)
- Toppings: ketchup, grated cheese, etc. (optional)
Instructions
In a Dutch oven or pot over medium heat, add oil and diced onions. Cook until translucent.
Meanwhile, in a nonstick skillet over medium-high heat partially cook ground beef, discarding any fat, impurities or juices that arise. Transfer ground beef to the Dutch oven or pot.
Add cumin, turmeric, chili powder, salt, pepper, sugar and garlic powder to the Dutch oven or pot. Continue cooking the ground beef, breaking it up into pieces and stirring with spices.
Pour chicken or beef stock into the Dutch oven or pot. Bring to a boil and reduce to simmer. Simmer for 15-20 minutes. Drop mixed vegetables in after 10-15 minutes. Simmer until beef is tender and stock has reduced to a small pool beneath the beef.
Serve inside crispy toasted bread, such as pita bread, with desired toppings.
